Last week, year 9 & 10 students at Castle View Academy took part in the Speak Out Challenge workshop which introduced them to public speaking and effective communication skills. The aim of the workshop was to develop self-awareness and confidence so students become more effective at public speaking.
The workshop saw students writing and preparing their own speeches, based on a subject they felt passionate about, and provided a platform that gave them the freedom to express themselves through public speaking, enabling them to develop self-awareness and confidence.
Of the students who took part, five across both year groups were chosen as semi-finalists and they presented their speeches to a year 8 assembly and a panel of judges.
A very well done to the brilliant Phoebe Long who will now represent Castle View Academy at the regional final event, week commencing 10th December.
