The Academy homework timetable for each year group can be found on this page.
Homework is important because it helps our student’s develop the self-discipline of working independently and gives them the opportunity to regularly practise using the new knowledge they have covered in class. We recognise that students also have evening and weekend commitments and therefore any homework set will be given at least a week to be completed.
The Academy operates a one hour detention policy for all missed homework or homework that has been completed with insufficient effort. Students are expected to stay on the night the detention is set and a text will be sent home to notify parents / guardians.
A record of a student’s homework can be found on the website “Show my Homework”. All students have a login to this and parents/ guardians can log in to check what work has been set. Some departments such and Maths, Science and Geography use websites to set their homework such as Hegarty Maths and Educake. Students have a log on to this.
We understand that some students may not have access to the internet at home so therefore we run a homework club in the morning before school. Students also have use of the computers in the library at break and lunchtime. Alternatively, staff will give appropriate paper based homework if required.
