Admissions

Year 7 Admissions

The aim of our academy is to make joining it as easy as possible. This is achieved through a carefully planned induction programme which aims to secure a smooth transition from Year 6 into 7, or in the case of in-year transfers, from one secondary school to another. The academy recognises that the step from a small primary school to a larger secondary academy is a huge one, and we want our students and their families to feel supported as they make the transition.

Formal admission procedures are operated through Portsmouth City Council. For more information or to apply for a place at Castle View Academy, please visit https://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/ext/learning-and-schools/schools/school-admissions.

Details on the academy’s admissions policy can be found here.

The links between primary schools and Castle View Academy are excellent and primary-secondary transition is at the heart of these relationships. During the summer term, the Head of Year 7 and Director of Key Stage 3  will visit students at their primary schools and Year 6 students will also have an opportunity to visit Castle View for two ‘Transition Days’.  New students will have the chance to meet their tutors and will experience a typical academy day. To follow this, an induction programme also takes place in the first few weeks of the autumn term. Click here to read more about our transition.

In-Year Admissions

As the community becomes aware of the exciting education we offer here at Castle View Academy , we find that more and more students are applying to join us from other schools.  This is because we guarantee disruption-free lessons and an education that not only builds academic achievement but also character.

Students who are considering a transfer to Castle View Academy are invited to contact our admissions officer to arrange a tour of the building and an informal chat about our policies and procedures.  This can be arranged by emailing emma.coleshill@castleviewacademy.org.uk.

In year admissions are operated by Portsmouth City Council. Information on in year applications and the form that needs to be completed can be found at https://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/ext/learning-and-schools/schools/school-admissions.
