The Academy homework timetable for each year group can be found on this page.
Homework is important because it helps our students develop the self-discipline of working independently and gives them the opportunity to regularly practise using the new knowledge they have covered in class. Because we recognise that students have evening and weekend commitments, any homework set will be given at least one week to be completed.
The Academy operates a one hour detention policy for all missed homework or homework that has been completed with insufficient effort. Students are expected to stay on the night the detention is set and a text will be sent home to notify parents/carers.
A record of all homework set can be found on the website Show my Homework. All students have a login for this site and parents/carers can also log in to check what work has been set. Some departments such and Maths, Science and Geography use different websites/platforms to set their homework such as HegartyMaths and Educake. Students have login details for these sites too. For HegartyMaths, students need to follow these guidelines when completing their homework: Year 7-8 / Year 9-10.
We understand that some students may not have access to the internet at home and we therefore run a homework club in the morning before school. Students may also use the computers in the Library at break and lunchtime. Alternatively, staff will give appropriate paper based homework if required.
If you have any questions regarding the Academy’s policy on homework, please contact Matt Gill (Assistant Principal) matt.gill@CastleViewAcademy.org.uk
Please see details below of when homework is due for submission and when detentions will be set for homework not submitted.
