At Castle View Academy, tutor time is an essential part of the school day that supports students' academic, personal, and social development. It begins at 8:30 AM and provides a structured start to the day, helping students settle in and prepare mentally for learning.
Before lessons begin, you will have tutor time. Your tutor is there to help prepare you for the day and will check your equipment daily. During tutor time you will have different activities, including reading, assembly and personal development.
One of the key purposes of tutor time is to deliver personal development sessions. During these sessions, students explore important life topics such as healthy relationships, online safety, and democratic values. These lessons are often linked to national events and commemorative days, such as Holocaust Memorial Day and World Book Day, helping students connect their learning to the wider world.
Tutor time also plays a crucial role in character education. It supports the academy’s mission to provide an “Education with Character,” encouraging students to discover their interests, develop their talents, and become responsible and respectful citizens. Through discussions, activities, and reflection, students build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills.
Additionally, tutor time offers pastoral support. Tutors act as a consistent point of contact for students, monitoring their well-being and academic progress, and offering guidance when needed. This daily interaction helps foster a sense of belonging and community within the school.
